Unrestored 1970 Cadillac DeVille Convertible

1970 Cadillac DeVille Convertible

Sask Canada, Nov 28 2017 - Featuring a rare color on this unmolested, almost rust-free original car - San Mateo red with red leather interior and white top, this car drives and shows very well. Fully loaded with power windows, 60/40 seats, top, climate control, cruise control, air conditioning and AM-FM radio, the car can be used as is or restored very cost effectively.

Said to have been imported to Canada from US at an early age, a dealer in Yorkton SK sold to a long term owner in the area. Ending up in the proverbial barn, typical fuel corrosion issues of storage kept it there a long time. Though no bills exist from previous owners, apparently a lot of money went into fuel system, brakes and suspension repair to prepare for the road.

Purchased by the current owner in non-running condition last year, a lot of new engine parts and tweaks were installed to make driveable: distributor, plugs, wires, timing chain, fuel pump, water pump and starter.

The original engine now runs smoothly but has a slight manifold gasket leak on one side. The original transmission shifts smoothly and the car cruises as pillowy as you can imagine.

The trunk, underside and frame have no rust issues - inner fenders, quarters and rockers are all solid. No need to rebuild half a car here. Doors, windows and top fit and operate nicely. The factory rims are lost - replaced by modest chrome slot wheels and good radial tires.

A few non-life-threatening issues with the car: top rubber seal missing above passenger window (replaceable); nicks in the dash vinyl (repairable); AC compressor has been removed (replaceable); and surface rust spot above passenger headlight (should be addressed).

Hagerty Insurance values a #4 condition car of this model at $10,400 US. It would not take much to make this a #2 possibly worth $27,000 US.

The vehicle is being sold on Ebay.
