Steve McQueen Car Show: Saturday Jun 7 2014
Chino Hills CA, May 17 2014 - Every summer the Friends of Steve McQueen Car Show brings thousands of spectators to the Boys Republic campus, where 16 year-old Steve McQueen spent time as a student in 1946. Since its start in 2008 the event has helped attract corporate fundraising interest resulting in donations of skilled labor and building materials through the Lowe’s Heroes community improvement project valued at more than $100,000.
This year’s car show is themed after the famed classic film - The Thomas Crown Affair. To commemorate the occasion there will be a celebratory dinner on Friday June 06 2014, with invited guest speakers from the movie. The event will take place outside providing an open atmosphere for attendees.
About The Friends of Steve McQueen Car Show
The Friends of Steve McQueen Car Show is an automotive gathering held in early June to raise funds for Boys Republic; a private, non-profit, nonsectarian community for at-risk boys and girls ages 13-17. Established in 2008 by members and friends of the (Porsche) 356 Club of Southern California, the event attracts automobile, motorcycle and off-road motorsports enthusiasts from throughout the U.S.
About The Boys Republic
Boys Republic was founded in 1907 in an effort to treat troubled teenagers without sending them to jail with adult criminals. A Los Angeles-based program was later formed with the founding principles that would require youth to become responsible for their own actions, earn part of their way through a program of meaningful work, respectful of the rights of others, and accountable to their peers through a system of student self-government.
