Palm Springs CA, Nov 15 2016 -  Desert Concorso celebrated a two-day event with a kick off event on Saturday Nov 14 at the Landmark Aviation in Thermal California that featured a diverse collection of user-friendly aircraft. The Concorso team is apparently able to summon friends from high-up places to provide a large touch of class for their guests. Jets and jet fuel just make people happy - we heard a couple of cars trying to take flight on the Thermal runways. It did sound possible in the dark.

The party continued on Sunday at the Palm Springs Stadium - about the biggest spot of grass in town not on a golf course. The baseball pitcher's mound supported the stage, the parade line crossed home plate, Panoz was safe on second, and the club members played umpire in the lounge in front of the stands.

Feature cars at Desert Concorso included the 2015 Panoz Esperante Spyder GT Prototype and a beautiful 1957 Mercedes Benz 220S -- part of the Classic Rally Association from London to Peking in 2000. You meet very cool people here too - Donald Osborne and Keith Martin provided color commentary for the Concorso crowd.

A pioneer of California sport racing history, Bill Pollack attended Desert Concorso. He started his racing career in 1950 in Palm Springs. Throughout his career Mr. Pollack won a number of races; Carrell Speedway, Pebble Beach Cup, SCCA National Reno, SCAA National Pebble Beach, SCCA National Golden Gate, Madera, Preliminary Palm Springs, and Willow Springs to name a few. Mr. Pollack also won driving the Baldwin Special MK II at Willow Springs in 1955.

Concorso is big on design and fashion. Tommy Bahama and Wil Stiles added some dress color, culture and class to the field, with significantly good looking models as canvas. Good looking people and fine automobiles attract each other, and that attracts others to sneak a picture or two.

Desert Concorso Corporate sponsors surrounded the home run wall -- always a diverse range between local vendors and national brands that wants to brush by the kind of people that are attracted to such premium events. There are dealers, books, pictures, magazines, trinkets, souvenirs, parts, and you can't have a Concorso event without a good cigar vendor!
