1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible: Honey Bee by Chip Foose

Some people have all the good fortune. Chevy Jim had a very sentimental attachment to his high school cruiser -- never letting go of his 1956 Chevrolet convertible. Though in rather worn out condition -- as outdoor living convertibles get, Jim likely turned down a lot of offers to take the heap off his hands. Some day this car would live again, whatever the cost may be.
Enough some days and years passed that a new generation grew up around it’s spot in the driveway. Seeing what Chip Foose was up to on the Velocity Channel’s Overhaulin’, Chevy Jim’s son Danny contacted the show crew with the subject matter.
Jim’s diamond in the rough was featured on Overhaulin' with Chip Foose and Chris Jacobs "Scouts Honor" (Season 5 Episode #04) airing May 22, 2008. Overhaulin’ usually performs their charity on icon cars – no nondescript sedans here, folks! What better a car for a Foose build than a 56 Chevy convertible? Not that Overhaulin’ can’t fix the original parts but most 55-6-7 parts are available as reproductions, owing to the immense popularity of these models.

The episode was heartwarming -- Jim was truly awestruck, very moved and appreciative. His misty eyed summation was “I’m going to share this car.” Chevy Jim has lived up to his promise – Special Car Store has seen the fantastic car anywhere there’s a car show near Burbank. We say thanks for sharing:
